BiG is a social society for IT students at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). We are currently looking for sponsors for 2012 and were hoping that your company would be able to provide sponsorship to our society to enable us to host events for our members.

A little bit of BiG history

BiG was originally founded to cater for students undertaking Bachelor degrees in Information Technology. Since its inception, BiG has attracted interest from students of all faculties and is now the leading society at UTS, having recently won the Club of the Year Award 2011.
Our members have the opportunity to participate in a variety of corporate events throughout the year, including the annual “How Can I Use My IT Degree Innovatively?” and several sponsor orientated career events. We also aim to provide our members with the opportunity to participate in a variety of social events throughout the year, including beginning and end of semester parties, harbour cruises, inter-university sporting competitions, trivia nights, graduation functions and more. BiG has a member-base of over 350 IT students and 50 other students across various UTS faculties and some other universities.

What's Happening in 2012?

BiG offers a flagship event each semester, starting with the annual Motion Harbour Cruise early in the Autumn semester and the Haunted Halloween Party, which is to be held in late October.

During 2011, we held our careers based event “How Can I Use My IT Degree Innovatively?” This involved 7 guest speakers from various companies talking to students about their company, their role, their career progression since university and how their chosen degree led to their success. After speeches, students could then network with the various speakers to get a sense of direction with their chosen university course.
In 2012, we plan to hold a similar event and require seven speakers with varying roles to speak about their career paths and how they got to where they are today. We are looking for speakers who have undertaken a degree similar to the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT)/Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BScIT) to relate their experiences and the availability of current opportunities in the workforce. We also plan to hold more intimate careers based events with company representatives and current students. If you are interested in either opportunity would you please let us know.

How Can I, As A Sponsor, Get Involved?

In 2012, we are continuing our innovative approach to sponsorship which has the aim of enabling our sponsors to interact on a much deeper level with our members. We offer two primary packages being Gold or Silver, each with different benefits that is dependent on the amount donated to our society. However we don’t exclude smaller involvement such as online marketing which we are happy to discuss if you are interested.

• We want to get more involved with YOU as a sponsor. This may be through holding events in conjunction with your company, to benefit both you and students.

You will be mentioned as a significant sponsor at all industry events as well as social events (if desired)
Your logo will be placed on marketing materials for industry events as well as social events (If desired). This includes emails, posters, tickets, etc.
Merchandise and material that you provide us will be made available to students at some of our events.
We will place a blurb about your company on our website under the “Sponsorship page”. Our members and guests regularly check our website to see what is going on and how they can get involved.
Posting up-coming job information on our website. In every social and academic event-related email, and the half yearly and yearly BiG report emails that are sent out, we will ask members to have a look at the Job Opportunities.
Direct marketing of jobs through emails to BiG members. We will send emails on your behalf to our members.(2 emails per semester)
